Stage and screen star Mark Benton (Waterloo Road, Early Doors) will play the larger than life Turnblad family matriarch Edna in the show.

Hairspray is the musical with everything - the ultimate feel-good show which has played to sold out houses in London, on Broadway and theatres around the globe.

A lunchtime talk on Metropolis given by the exhibition curators at 1.00pm. The tour will last approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour.

Tickets are £2.00 per person and are available on the day from Gas Hall. Please meet in the Gas Hall foyer.

Visions of the modern global city by some of the world's most exciting artists, Metropolis brings together stunning work by 25 contemporary artists of the highest international standing to Birmingham and includes digital projection, painting, sculpture, photography and mixed media installation.

Metropolis: Reflections on the modern city is a major showcase of international contemporary artwork jointly collected by Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery and the New Art Gallery, Walsall and developed in partnership with Ikon Gallery, as part of the £1 million Art Fund International initiative. Now shown together for the first time, these works represent an ambitious and nationally-significant new collection for Birmingham, Walsall and the West Midlands.

Leftwich's debut album, the Ian Grimble-produced Last Smoke Before The Snowstorm, was released in July 2011. The Fly called it "a majestic debut" "whilst The Sunday Times cited Leftwich as "a serious new talent".[citation needed] The Skinny described it as "occasionally a bit O.C. soundtrack...[but] enjoyable throughout", while the Sunday Express called it "lovely" but "increasingly repetitive over the course of 10 tracks".Hazel Sheffield, writing in The Guardian, gave it a 3/5 rating, as did David Pollock, writing for The Scotsman, who drew comparisons to Damien Rice and José González, but also stated "sadly there are also heavy hints of Chris Martin at his most mawkish".

Chris Wood is highly regarded as one of the best folk singer-songwriters to arise from Britain. He has won multiple BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards including Best Original Song and Folk Singer Of The Year.

Wood has worked and collaborated with a long list of artists, most recently Dizraeli, Billy Bragg, Eliza and Martin Carthy in Simon Emmerson's The Imagined Village. Joan Armatrading presented Chris with the 2011 BBC Radio Two Folk Singer Of The Year award before inviting him as special guest onto her 2012 tour.

His forthcoming 2013 album, None The Wiser, is amongst the most eagerly awaited releases of 2013 since he debuted songs from it live in session on BBC Radio 2's Mark Radcliffe Folk Show in January.

The Gambit Jazzmen have a reputation for good, hot, New Orleans music, and enjoy playing a large repertoire from the 1920s, 30s and 40s intended for dancing or listening. Just like the early Ken Colyer, Kid Ory and George Lewis bands, we consider ourselves a powerful combination creating an exciting atmosphere on stage.
