CBSO: Respighi's Roman Trilogy

The rustling of pine-needles, the splashing of fountains, the shouts and songs of carnival season: in Rome, everything seems to make music. Ottorino Respighi loved his home city, and he painted it in all the colours of a full symphony orchestra. Kazuki Yamada is our guide today – and joins the award-winning Vilde Frang in Shostakovich’s tense political thriller of a Violin Concerto.
