Performance Night: Beverley Bennett FREE

Source https://eastsideprojects.org/events/performance-night-beverley-bennett/

Join us for an evening performance responding to Beverley Bennett’s film within the exhibition showing her Uncle Jeffery singing. Beverley has invited local gospel singers, Jerome Bucknor, Trevor Minto, Courtney Copeland, and Layton Plummer, to perform R&B tracks traditionally performed by women. This gesture explores the evocative nature of singing from black male vocals, experienced by the artist.

This performance is part of The Range exhibition that brings together new works by Hashim Ali (Hawkchild DIY), Ain Bailey, Beverley Bennett, Adam Farah, Seema Mattu and Zarina Muhammad that take up the mediation of intimacy, familial relations and personal reflections through obsolete technologies, online platforms and sense triggers.

Doors open 6.30pm, performance at 7pm.
