Straps and Aerial Technique
Generally considered the most challenging of the classical aerial equipment, aerial straps are a wonderful cross training tool for any aerialist as well as being a unique and exciting discipline in and of themselves. In the beginning, aerial straps training has a big focus on correct technique, alignment, body position and conditioning, building the strength, awareness and ability to move onto more challenging moves. By taking away the grip-strength factor prevalent in the other aerial disciplines, straps offers the best opportunity to strengthen other important parts of your body and focus technique and transitions. Many artists of the other aerial disciplines achieved many of the harder moves and transitions such as side planche, classic roll ups and spinning technique on straps first. In this two-hour all-level workshop, we will practice the basic wraps and positions on straps alongside correct spotting technique, in order to build strength and body awareness to take your aerial to the next level. More difficult options and pathways will be offered to more advanced students.
