We are delighted to invite you to this event to mark International Stammering Awareness Day (ISAD), where we will be showcasing the work and stories of people who stammer. A series of short talks from invited speakers will take place, with conversations continuing in the on-site 'Social Kitchen' (the Student Union bar) until 10pm for anyone who would like to join us.
Everyone welcome but booking is essential.
Confirmed speakers: Namrah Chaudhry: Namrah works as a Student Services Manager at a sixth form in London. Her passion for supporting vulnerable young people did not allow her stammer to get in the way of what she believes in. From a covert stammerer to acceptance. You can find Namrah on Twitter: @Namrah_c
Mueid Kaleem: Mueid appeared in the 2018 documentary 'School for Stammerers'. He is a pharmacist and loves helping people with their health and medicines. He has stammered from a young age and lived all his life in fear and massive avoidance. He has recently come out of his shell and wants to live life to the fullest and not hold back anymore!
Clare Rawlings: (Bio coming soon). You can find Clare on Twitter: @crawli
Mandy Taylor: Mandy is Vice Chair of the British Stammering Association and a happy stammerer. She is originally from Northern Ireland but now lives in Cheshire, in a household where stammering is the norm through three generations.
