In 1642 King Charles visited Aston Hall on his way to the first battle of the Civil War. The following year Prince Rupert visited war on Birmingham in revenge for their loyalty to Parliament and treatment of his uncle, the king.
In December of 1643 Sir Thomas declared his support for the king and called for soldiers to defend him; after Christmas that year his home was attacked, looted, and he was taken prisoner.
Visit the hall and meet with a soldier from the terrible Civil Wars. View arms and armour from the period and learn how it was used.
